Art of Bombing
The latest MWT Tank Battle update introduces one of the biggest air-combat improvements yet: the Bomb Munitions Mechanism. This new system expands aerial warfare by giving aircraft more realistic bombing options, improved targeting mechanics, and stronger battlefield impact.
The new bomb system separates aerial weapons into specialized categories instead of a single generic bomb type. Players must now choose the correct bomb depending on the situation, altitude, and target type.
The three main bomb types are:
- Free Fall Bombs
- Guided Bombs
- Laser-Guided Bombs
Each serves a different battlefield role.
Free Fall Bombs
What Are Free Fall Bombs?
Free fall bombs are traditional gravity bombs. Once released, they fall directly toward the ground without guidance systems.
These bombs rely entirely on players positioning and timing.
How to Use Free Fall Bombs
- Approach the target at medium or low altitude.
- Align your aircraft directly above or slightly ahead of the target.
- Release the bomb while maintaining stable flight.
Tips:
- Drop slightly before reaching the target.
- Use dive bombing for higher accuracy.
Issue rises when it's dropped.
The best practice is to Dive bomb the target.
Be aware of Anti-Aircraft vehicles as this approach can make you vulnerable at low altitude.
What Are Guided Bombs?
Guided bombs feature onboard targeting assistance that helps steer the bomb toward a selected location after release.
Unlike free fall bombs, they provide improved accuracy without requiring perfect players timing.
How to Use Guided Bombs
- Lock or designate a ground target.
- Maintain stable flight while releasing the bomb.
The best way to use this bomb is to release it from a far
Or at a higher altitude
The main issue with this is that it requires players to keep a lock on to the target which makes you vulnerable to AA Systems.
Laser-Guided Bombs
What Are Laser-Guided Bombs?
Laser-guided bombs represent the most advanced bombing option introduced in this update. These weapons use laser designation to precisely track targets.
They provide maximum accuracy and efficiency.
How to Use Laser-Guided Bombs
- Aim at the enemy vehicle
- Release the bomb
- Keep the laser pointed at the target until impact. (Else some bomb will miss)
This is great when using Night vision and thermal as these bombs cannot be smoked and can change target by aiming but require you to keep a lock with some bombs...
This is an exception for the GBU-12 Paveway and a few more. As once you release it... it does not require a constant lock!
The one thing you need to take note with some of the bombs like Paveway is that when you release them they follow an arc.
Keep in mind that there should not be any obstacles or elevation when releasing it.
Do not release the GBU-12 from a low altitude.
The best method is to release it from top.
Good luck, pilots! Mastering these bombs will make your strikes more precise, powerful, and game-changing!
